About

Our mission is to reduce waste by crafting upcycled materials that transcend their original purpose. We believe architecture is more than just the design of space—it’s a narrative woven through the materials that define it. Each material carries a story: where it came from, who shaped it, and how it connects the past to the present. Through local craftsmanship, we reclaim discarded materials from demolition sites and offcuts from production, honoring their histories and transforming waste into meaningful elements for new spaces.

The first material selection created by Recraft Design Studio includes discarded materials from two former demolition sites in Brøndby and Nykobing Falster, as well as one transformati Instead of calling it a collection, we prefer to refer to it as a selection—harvested from the unique opportunities each site provides, reflecting the paradox of fashions seasonality within the case-specific nature of sustainable urban miningon site in Høje Taastrup.

Resources

Resources

At ReCraft Design Studio, we are always on the lookout for discarded materials, from demolition waste to unique offcuts. Why do we discard so many valuable resources while continuing to extract new ones from our planet? We believe it is time to rethink this approach. Instead of depleting natural reserves, we see urban fabrics and supply chains as modern mines—rich sources of materials and inspiration, waiting to be reimagined and repurposed.

Hard Demolition

The process of deconstructing a building as fast and cost-effective as possible. This approach is typically focusing on the complete removal of the structure rather than the careful dismantling of materials for future use.

Soft Demolition

Soft Demolition: The process of carefully deconstructing a building with the purpose to preserve its components and with the intention to maximize recycling or reuse.

Stone Offcuts

At ReCraft Design Studio, we are always on the lookout for discarded materials, from demolition waste to unique offcuts. One of our recent stops: visiting a stonemason in Sweden to source beautiful stone offcuts. Excited to give these remnants new life!
